Sametoví teroristé v Austrálii

V rámci Českého a Slovenského Filmového Festivalu v Melbourne a Sydney bude promítnut i film Sametoví teroristé.

Těšíme se nashledanou tam, kde bude celý festival probíhat - 21.-29.srpna v ACMI Melbourne a 2.-7.září v Sydney v kině DANDY Newtown.

Czech & Slovak Film Festival

In Melbourne’s ACMI from 21st to 29 of August, in Sydney between 2nd and 7th of September with the Opening Night on Thursday 4 September 6pm at
Dendy Newtown.

Candidate, Godfather’s Story, To See the Sea, Confidant, VELVET TERRORISTS, Honeymoon, Lyricist, Delight, Like Never Before are some of the many titles which will appear at the upcoming Czech&Slovak Film Festival in Melbourne’s ACMI from 21st to 29 of August and between 2nd and 7th of September in Sydney’s Dendy Newtown.

Last year’s modest inaugural showcase of Czech and Slovak films in Melbourne confirmed our long held belief that the appetite for moving stories from Central Europe is strong. This year, the festival is expanding to Sydney with a much larger offering of new releases and past classics, featuring over 40 films, including documentaries and shorts. The 25th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution, a historical event in this part of the world, is also remembered in a special screening of the award winning trilogy Burning Bush, by acclaimed Polish Director Agnieszka Holland.

The Institute for the Study of Totalitarian RegimesAn exhibition, Prague Through the Lens of the Secret Police organized in conjunction with the film festival in both cities by the Czech Consulate in Sydney complements the theme of this year’s festival – a quarter of the century since the fall of communism - and at the same time illustrates life behind the Iron Curtain.

Far from being just drab, grey, monotone or robotic like some Orwellian world we might perceive it to be, people behind the Iron Curtain let themselves loose in their own imaginary world of arts and crafts. There is no better example of this escapism than in the surreal quirky work of Jan Švankmajer. A major retrospective in Melbourne’s ACMI and a smaller showing in Sydney’s UTS Faculty of Design featuring Alice, Conspirators of Pleasure, Food, Garden and many others features and shorts combined with the exhibition of Švankmajer‘s “dialogue between film and fine art” will delight his fans and admirers.

To top it all off, classics from the 60th such as The Boxer, Closely Watched Trains, Birds Orphans and Fools and Before Tonight is Over are icing on the festival’s cake.

Some of the other complimentary exhibitions and events to go with the film festival include an exhibition of posters of Slovak film classics, photographs featuring the beauty of Slovakia and a co-production panel of film experts to be held at Sydney’s Dendy Newtown on Friday 5th of September at 2pm.

Film fans and cinema goers will no doubt welcome the opportunity to meet and speak with our invited guests Robert Kirchhoff and Adam Hradilek during Q&A sessions and will also have the opportunity to vote for their favourite film.

In addition, there will be a raffle in Sydney and three lucky winners will receive attractive prices. Names of the winners will be announced at the Closing Night session at Dendy Newtown on Sunday 7th of September at 6pm during live entertainment with singer Ivana Pašovičová.
